Panthers are One Win Away

The Florida Panthers come into this game up 3-0 in the series and they are just one win away from hoisting the Stanley Cup. The Panthers have won the first three games in this series by scores of 3-0, 4-1, and 4-3. In game three, Florida allowed Edmonton to tie the game at one early in the second period, but scored the next four goals to lead 4-1. The Panthers did allow two third period goals, but they were able hang on for the win. Florida recorded 23 shots on goal, 33 hits, and went 0-1 on the power play in the win.

Florida has now won six games in a row, as they won the last three games against the Rangers as well. The Panthers defeated Tampa Bay, Boston, and New York in their first three series during the postseason. Florida is scoring 3.30 goals per game, while going 21.7% on the power play and 90.2% on the penalty kill. Aleksander Barkov has led Florida with seven goals, 14 assists, and 50 shots on goal, while Matthew Tkachuk has added five goals, 15 assists, and 73 shots.

Oilers are Not Giving Up

The Edmonton Oilers are down 3-0 in the series and they face a must win scenario here. Edmonton has really struggled to get going in the first three games of this series, but they did find some success in the third period of game three. The Oilers rely on their power play to provide scoring chances and much needed momentum, but Florida has absolutely shut that down. In game three, Edmonton recorded 35 shots on goal, 37 hits, and went 0-3 on the power play.

Edmonton has only scored four goals so far in the series, despite having a good amount of scoring chances. The Oilers defeated Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Dallas in their first three series of the playoffs. Edmonton is scoring 3.19 goals per game, while going 31.1% on the power play and 93.1% on the penalty kill. Connor McDavid has led Edmonton with five goals, 29 assists, and 69 shots on goal, while Leon Draisaitl has added 10 goals, 18 assists, and 66 shots on goal.

Starting Goalies

The projected starting goalie for Edmonton is Stuart Skinner, who is 11-8 this postseason with a 2.59 goals against average and an .893 save percentage. The projected starting goalie for Florida is Sergei Bobrovsky, who is 15-5 this postseason with a 2.07 goals against average and a .916 save percentage.

Florida Panthers vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction

Florida comes into this game just one win away from being Stanley Cup Champions, but it is never easy to close out an opponent on the road. The Panthers have done a very good job of frustrating Edmonton’s offensive attack and the Oilers power play has not been good. I thought Edmonton played better in the third period of game three, but can they play like that for a full 60 minutes? I know they are down 3-0 in the series, but I just don’t see Edmonton going out in this game. I think McDavid and Draisaitl finally get going here and my Florida Panthers vs Edmonton Oilers prediction is for Edmonton to force a game five.
