Canelo Alvarez and Jaime Munguia fight Saturday in a boxing match at the T-Mobile Arena. Here’s a Canelo Alvarez vs Jaime Munguia Prediction.

Canelo Alvarez Betting Preview

Canelo Alvarez enters this fight with a 60-2-2 record that includes 39 knockouts. Alvarez has won 10 of his last 11 fights, and he’s coming off a September victory over Jermell Charlo. Alvarez won the bout by unanimous decision comfortably, and he dropped Charlo in the seventh round. Alvarez has won his last 3 bouts by decision, but he’s dropped his last two opponents.

Alvarez is 33 years old, stands at 5’8”, has a 70.5-inch reach and an orthodox stance. There’s really not much that can be said about Alvarez that hasn’t been said already, as he’s arguably the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world and has a resume that stacks up against anybody in the sport. Alvarez is a pressure style fighter who is always looking to be the aggressor, cuts the ring off well and lives off combinations and shots to the body. Alvarez has good technique and can fight just about any style. However, past recent tight bouts where you can make a case for either side does have competition feeling like they have a chance.

Jaime Munguia Betting Preview

Munguia enters this fight with a 43-0-0 record that includes 34 knockouts. Munguia is fighting for the second time this year and is coming off a January win over John Ryder. Munguia produced a stoppage in the ninth round after getting multiple knockdowns. Munguia has produced stoppages in four of his last five fights. Munguia is 27 years old, stands at 6’0” and has a 72-inch reach.

Munguia has good power that’s helped produce a 79 percent knockout percentage, and he has a come forward style. Munguia likes to get his opponent up against the ropes and unload combinations. Good footwork and decent head movement, Munguia has earned the right to make a run at the undisputed super middleweight titles.

Canelo Alvarez vs Jaime Munguia Prediction

I wouldn’t talk you of the ledge if looking to take a shot with Munguia at this price. Munguia has the raw punching power and the aggressiveness to land something and shock the world. The problem is Canelo is one of those rare boxers who checks all of the boxes and isn’t somebody I’m excited to bet against. There’s no weakness in Canelo’s game, and his resume stacks up with any in the sport. As talented as Munguia may be, he hasn’t seen somebody as seasoned as Canelo or somebody who packs as much punching power. While it can be tempting to take a shot in the dark with the big plus money and that’s how a lot of people bet combat sports, hoping for a big potential payout. I just don’t see it happening here. Canelo is as safe of a bet as it gets in boxing.

To shave down the massive juice, I’ll take Canelo by finish. Again, Munguia hasn’t faced anybody in Canelo’s league, and it could be a surprise for the fairly young boxer looking to take that next step.
