Vasyl Lomachenko and George Kambosos fight Saturday in a boxing match at the RAC Arena. Here’s a Vasyl Lomachenko vs George Kambosos Prediction.

Vasyl Lomachenko Betting Preview

Lomachenko enters this fight with a 17-3 record that includes 11 knockouts. Lomachenko has won 5 of his last 7 fights, and he’s coming off a May (2023) loss to Devin Haney. The fight snapped a 3-fight winning streak and ruined a chance at snatching WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO titles. The fight was a bit controversial, as Lomachenko landed more shots, but it was Haney who was more accurate. Regardless, Lomachenko looks to avoid back to back losses for the first time in his career.

Lomachenko is a 36-year-old southpaw who stands at 5’7” and has a 65-inch reach. Lomachenko is one of the best technical fighters in the sport with ridiculous footwork and defense, and it makes him hard to hit. Despite 3 career losses, Lomachenko has never been stopped, and he’s only been dropped once, which was against Jorge Linares back in 2017. Lomachenko has quick hands offensively, puts combinations together nicely and has enough pop to end things.

Lomachenko has lost some of that scariness given recent losses, and he’s getting up there in age. While still talented and a technician, Lomachenko isn’t the same boxer he was a few years ago when he held the WBO lightweight title.

George Kambosos Betting Preview

Kambosos enters this fight with a 21-2 record that includes 10 knockouts. Kambosos has won 5 of his last 7 fights, and he’s coming off a July win over Maxi Hughes. Kambosos bounced from back to back losses to Devin Haney with a win over Hughes to snag the IBO lightweight title. Kambosos now has a chance to get the biggest win of his career.

Kambosos is a 30-year-old Austrilian who stands at 5’8” and has a 68-inch reach. Kambosos has decent movement and a strong chin, and he’s never been knocked out despite two losses where he was badly outboxed. Kambosos has a bit of an aggressive style, as he’ll come forward and mix in combinations, and he’s very hook heavy. Kambosos does have a couple of one shot punches that have dropped opponents, but he hasn’t produced a stoppage since his 2019 win over Richard Pena.

Kambosos may not do anything particularly special, but he’s wiling to trade punches, and his toughness and aggressiveness gives him a shot.

Vasyl Lomachenko vs George Kambosos Prediction

Lomachenko may not be the same fighter he was a few years ago, but even if you knock him down a peg or two, he’s still in a fairly high percentile. It would be foolish to write off Lomachenko and act like just anybody can beat him. If anything, you just have to look at the Haney fights for both guys. Lomachenko went toe to toe with Haney and arguably beat him, while Kambosos was badly outboxed on two different occasions.

Lomachenko is the better boxer across the board and has the ability to play with Kambosos the same way Haney did. I’m not sure Lomachenko has the pop in his hands to produce a finish, given the fact he is getting up there in age. Kambosos is also a tough Aussie with a good chin.

Still, this should be a routine boxing lesson for Lomachenko. Give me Lomachenko in a decision to lower the price down.
