Arizona Wildcats Betting Preview

Arizona jumped out to a 3-0 record through their first three outings this year, beating Hawaii, Weber State and Kansas State in that time. The Wildcats lost three of the next five however, falling to Iowa State, BYU and Houston amid wins over Oklahoma State and Colorado. In the win 52-17 over the Buffaloes, the Wildcats scored double-digit points in each of the first three quarters. Arizona’s defense came up with a whopping five takeaways, but Colorado’s 14 penalties for 110 yards didn’t hurt matters, either.

In last weekend’s matchup versus Kansas, Arizona was down 20-17 by the end of the third quarter but notched a TD from there, putting up points in every quarter during a 24-20 comeback home victory. QB Noah Fifita was 16-of-31 for 158 yards and two touchdowns while Ismail Mahdi had seven carries for 61 yards. Quincy Craig scored on the ground, and lead receiver Gio Richardson had 38 yards on two catches.

Cincinnati Bearcats Betting Preview

Over on the Cincinnati side, they lost by three points to Nebraska in their opener but then rattled off a series of wins. Those came versus Bowling Green, Northwestern State, Kansas, Iowa State, UCF, Oklahoma State and Baylor. In the 41-20 win over the Bears, the Bearcats secured 376 total yards, 265 rush yards, 26 first downs and 9-of-14 on third-down tries. Cincinnati committed 10 team penalties for 88 yards, but a nice effort from the defense on the other side kept the game from getting too close for comfort.

The Bearcats took another loss in their last appearance on November 1 in a road matchup versus Utah. Cincinnati gave up points in all four quarters (including double-digits in each of the first three) during a 45-14 loss. QB Brendan Sorsby finished 11-of-33 for 221 yards, one TD and one pick. Tawee Walker added 67 yards rushing on seven carries, and Cyrus Allen had two big catches for 133 yards and a touchdown in the losing effort for the Bearcats.

Arizona vs Cincinnati Prediction

I’ll take a stab on Cincinnati. The Bearcats have had ample time to rest and recover from a blowout road loss to a great Utah team, and they needed it after that disaster. Cincinnati gave up 480 yards, 267 rushing yards, 29 first downs and 7-of-15 on third downs in that one. On the other side the offense had 427 yards, 206 rush yards and 18 first downs alongside three turnovers. The Bearcats couldn’t get out of their own way, as the eight penalties didn’t help either. The 14 points were Cincinnati’s lowest total of the season as well.

As for Arizona, they did a nice job in their comeback versus Kansas last weekend, pulling off the home win with 323 total yards, 5.4 yards per play, 18 first downs and no turnovers. The defense held the Jayhawks to 369 yards and 19 first downs on the other side. It wasn’t the prettiest game but the Wildcats got the job done in front of the friendly crowd. That makes consecutive wins for Arizona, so they’ll have plenty of confidence coming into this one. I don’t quite think they’ll keep pace on the road versus the Bearcats, though.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Cincinnati Bearcats -5.5
