Since then it’s been losses to Morgan State, Norfolk State, Howard, NC Central, South Carolina State, Delaware State, MD-Eastern Shore, Norfolk State, Howard, NC Central and South Carolina State in succession.
In the rematch with South Carolina State on Monday, the Eagles nearly had another victory. Coppin State was tied 30-30 after one half but got outscored 31-28 the rest of the way in a 61-58 loss. Ryan Archey was the leading team scorer off the bench on 17 points with three boards.
Morgan State Bears
Over on the Bears’ side, they started out the year at 4-14 then hit wins over Coppin State, Howard, South Carolina State, NC Central and MD-Eastern Shore in their next six. Morgan State lost to Delaware State, Howard, Norfolk State and South Carolina State before another win over NC Central.
Matched up against the Eagles in their latest outing, the Bears were down 35-32 going into the second half. Morgan State hit a 56-44 run the rest of the way and took the comeback win 88-79 in the end. Leading scorer Will Thomas put up 30 points with six boards and two assists.
ANDREW’S FREE COPPIN STATE VS MORGAN STATE PREDICTION
I’ll take a stab on Coppin State. Probably not touching this one, though. The Eagles almost broke their win streak in their latest outing against South Carolina State. Coppin State got outmuscled on the boards 39-24 however, and had a whopping 20 turnovers for 15 Bulldogs points.
The good news for Coppin State is that they were competitive the last time these teams met up. The Eagles took an 89-86 home loss in overtime on January 20, shooting a nice 50 percent along the way. The turnovers were again a massive issue though: 23 for 21 Bears points. If Coppin State can get their ball control issues under control I think they’ve got a shot in the rematch. It’s a coin flip, though.
