In this article we will formulate an Edmonton Oilers vs Dallas Stars prediction for this NHL game on Friday, May 31st at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. To formulate this prediction for game five in the series, we will examine:

Edmonton Found Their Offense

The Edmonton Oilers were able to win game four by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday night and the series is now tied at two. Edmonton won game one by a score of 3-2, but they lost games two and three by combined scores of 8-4. The Oilers had been struggling to score goals, as they scored three goals or fewer in seven of the eight games prior to game four, but they were able to score five times in that game for the win. Edmonton recorded 29 shots on goal, 47 hits, and went 0-1 on the power play in the game.

Edmonton defeated the LA Kings in five games in the first round and they got by Vancouver in seven games in the second round. The Oilers are scoring 3.63 goals per game, while going 32.6% on the power play and 93.2% on the penalty kill. Connor McDavid has led Edmonton with four goals, 24 assists, and 48 shots on goal, while Leon Draisaitl has added 10 goals, 16 assists, and 56 shots on goal.

Dallas Looks for Better Home Effort

The Dallas Stars were able to pick up a nice comeback win in game three of this series by a score of 5-3, but they blew a 2-0 lead in game four in the loss. Dallas also won game two by a score of 3-1 and they will have home ice in this matchup. The Stars almost took a 3-1 lead in game four, but they were out scored 5-0 over the last 50 minutes for the 5-2 loss. The Stars recorded 22 shots on goal, had 24 hits, and went 0-2 on the power play in the game.

Dallas defeated the Vegas Golden Knights in seven games in the first round and took care of Colorado in six games in the second round, but they are just 4-5 in their last nine home games. The Stars are scoring 2.94 goals per game, while going 22.5% on the power play and 75% on the penalty kill. Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen have led Dallas with six goals and 10 assists, while Johnston and Benn have added 15 points each.

Starting Goalies

The projected starting goalie for Dallas is Jake Oettinger, who is 10-7 this postseason with a 2.20 goals against average and a .919 save percentage. The projected starting goalie for Edmonton is Stuart Skinner, who is 9-5 this postseason with a 2.71 goals against average and an .887 save percentage.

Edmonton Oilers vs Dallas Stars Prediction

Edmonton looked like they were in tough shape about eight minutes into game four, but they bounced back and picked up a huge win to tie the series at two. Edmonton has actually played pretty solid defense over the last few games, but their offense had struggled before game four. Dallas is scoring fewer than three goals per game this postseason, but Oettinger has been outstanding in goal. Dallas has been a much better road team so far this postseason, so I don’t think the home ice is going to help them much. I liked how Edmonton controlled the last 50 minutes of game four and their depth scoring has been much improved. My Edmonton Oilers vs Dallas Stars Prediction is for the Oilers to get the win.
